It changes each time you bring it out which forces you to think of different strategies. I would recommend 12 and up.

It looked so complicated that I held off playing at first. There is a bit to remember, but it quickly makes sense to older kids and adults. Racing against each other to gain land and resources quickly brought out my competitive side. I could see playing this as a co-op game to include younger children. I am looking forward to playing this again at our next family game night.

We love it!! We own several versions and love them all! It IS for older children, but we own the junior version too and think that one is great too and it doesn’t take very long to play, so kids stay engaged. We love CATAN!!!!

Buying the expansion pack gives the ability to play at different levels– scale up or down for all ages. There are lots of different avenues and strategies and ways to win the game, and it teaches kids to adapt to any situation. Our 8-year-old and up enjoy playing.

We upgraded with all of the expansion packs and there are more ways to play than you can imagine. For the little kids, we have Catan Junior as well. We love getting together with the neighbors as well to play. Highly recommend this one.

It works for all ages. So many different strategy opportunities – many learning opportunities. Definitely can see how this will grow and not become boring over time

My 8 and 6 year old love strategic games, especially Monopoly, but I don’t care much for Monopoly. Enter Catan! This game also reminds me a bit of Oregon Trail, which I really loved playing when I was around their ages.
