Description

This is one of my family’s favorite cooperative board games for the whole family. Because this is a cooperative game, you work together to fight off a horde of monsters who are trying to tear down your castle walls and destroy your towers. It sure is fun to work together as a family towards a common goal that doesn’t involve loading the dishwasher!

Note: The manufacturer says this is for ages 10 and up, but according to several other families (including mine!) most 7-year-olds who can read are ready for this game. For younger kids, you’ll want My First Castle Panic instead.

From the Manufacturer

Castle Panic is a cooperative tower defense board game for 1 to 6 players. Players must work together to defend their Castle from almost endless waves of attacking Monsters!

The co-op element makes Castle Panic a great family game, and the perfect kick-off for your weekly game night. You must work together to defend your Castle, in the center of the board, from Monsters that attack out of the forest, at the edges of the board. Trade cards, hit and slay Monsters, and plan strategies together to keep your Castle towers intact.

Win or lose as a team, but only the player with the most victory points is declared the Master Slayer. Players must balance the survival of the group with their own desire to win.

WARNING: Choking Hazard – Contains small parts not suitable for children under 3 years.

Castle Panic is definitely a family favorite. We bought it a few years ago, and I love that it's a cooperative game. My 9 year old son has never liked anyone to lose when playing games that pit players against each other, so this is perfect for us. It requires a certain amount of strategy and often presents a good challenge, as sometimes you're forced to add extra "monsters" into the mix.
We often leave this game out overnight so our only child can play by himself in the mornings before we wake up. I would definitely recommend this game to friends and family.

Fun cooperative game. I like that my boys 13 and 9 can play together on this one without much bickering.

Family games should be fun for everyone! We have five kids, and that is one of the rules of our Friday Family Fun Night. We play a lot of co-op games with our kids — Hoot Owl Hoot and Outfoxed are really fun! We also taught them Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert and Castle Panic. Co-op games are great for teaching kids slowly, as open hands and working together are good.

We play Castle Panic and Carcassonne with our boys, and they LOVE them both. They are 3 and 6. Sometimes, our 3 year old is on a team, but he can usually play by himself for both games.
